Thrifty parents find back-to-school bargains
Jennifer Warger is on a tight budget.
As a single parent of three children and a full-time real estate agent in a rough housing market, Warger, 46, has had to reach deep into her wallet for back-to-school shopping.
“It’s really tight right now,” said Warger, who lives near The Falls. “I know that when it is time to go shopping, it is amazing what you have to spend. It’s like $40 just at one outing.”
But in the past three years she has spent half as much than what she usually does by shopping at consignment stores and taking advantage of back-to-school deals at the chain stores.
On a recent visit to The Recycled Closet, a consignment store in Palmetto Bay, Warger bought five tops for her 12-year-old daughter Jessie, including a Polo Ralph Lauren pink-checkered polo and an Aeropostale blue-green striped V-neck. Warger also bought two dresses for herself. The seven items cost $80.

I have carefully examined the plating, looking for any imperfections. There was 1 small dent on this flute which has been removed. Two small areas of the flute (1cm x 1cm) have become a little blackened over time. These areas are not particularly noticeable and certainly don’t detract from the overall appearance of the flute. There are a handful of superficial scratches, an example shown below.
