Pretty good value
This valve trombone is a good value for what you get. From an instrumentality perspective, I wish that they had included a larger mouthpiece. I bought a different one and was able to really crank out great sound almost immediately. I wish that the valves were a bit beefier.

The difference is 2 part
1. size, a valve trombone is much bigger than a trumpet, a trombone is about 3 to 4 ft long when trumpets are about 1 to 2
1 1/2. the valve trombone still sits on the left shoulder when the trumpet is held in front of the player

Right now I play a tuba, and I really wanted to try a valve trombone. The have the same fingerings, just slightly different mouth movements. Would it be hard for me to play this as a secondary instrument?

It is worth it ... you haven't heard anyone play t-bone like this man. I have two getzen valve trombones and two holton superbones. I have converted one of each to the key of C and use these mostly at gigs....
