Student Clarinet B Flat w/Accessories
This is a great little clarinet for a student just starting to play. The quality is great and it came with a hard shell plastic case which was very nice. For someone on a budget, this was a very good buy and performs as expected.

I am a junior in high school and I want to buy a new clarinet. I have been playing a plastic Selmer B flat clarinet since the 4th grade. I have gotten really good over the years and I want to upgrade to a higher end high school student wood clarinet.
I believe the YCL-34 is equivalent to the Buffet E11 in terms of quality (intermediate wood model). It's really rare to find a beginner clarinet made of wood. (However, I would try it before you buy it!

Weekend of music at Shalin Liu
Another weekend of popular music will take place at the Shalin Liu Performance Center; folk icon Jonathan Edwards performs Saturday, back by popular demand, and the eight-piece Grammy Award-nominated swing band Bellevue Cadillac plays Sunday.
Edwards, who turned 65 on Thursday and just announced the release of his first studio album in 14 years, performs Saturday, July 30, at 7 p.m. The singer-songwriter has four decades of performance, delivering songs of passion, songs of insight and songs of humor. Many recall his "toe-tapping, anti-war anthem" titled "Sunshine." It got its start on a Boston radio station and earned him a gold record in 1971. His upcoming album is "My Love Will Keep."
The concert hall will swing Sunday afternoon, July 31, at 5 p.m. when the New England neoswing band Bellevue Cadillac, also known as the band that turned down the gig playing John F, Kennedy Jr.'s secret wedding, take the stage. The band's music has been heard in the major motion pictures "Shallow Hal," "Me, Myself and Irene" and "Delta Rising" as well as 18 television shows, including "The Sopranos," "Las Vegas," "Sex and the City," and "Touched by an Angel." . Learning to play clarinet is in many ways dependent on the kind of instrument you have at your disposal. If you use a bad instrument, you’re going to find it hard to play and won’t like the kind of music that you hear yourself making.
That’s why it’s important to have a good clarinet, especially when you’re starting out. Is the Yamaha YCL 250 a good option for you to buy?
StudentFirst of all, you need to remember that there are 3 kinds of clarinet: alto (with a higher scale), bass (a lower scale), and standard which is in the middle in terms of scale and is what most people start with. If you’re planning on playing a bass or alto clarinet don’t buy the Yamaha YCL 250 standard.
The second thing you need to understand is that there are better sounding instruments than the YCL 250. However, they cost thousands of dollars and aren’t really made with the student in mind. I won’t tell you not to spend more money on an instrument if you want to, but the YCL 250 is an affordable choice and well worth the price.
