Easy choice for replacement
I needed to replace my old mouthpiece which had its cork compressed too tightly and no longer fit. This one replaced my "J & D Hite Premiere Bb Clarinet Mouthpiece." Don't bother with anything else, this mouthpiece is every bit as good as the premiere and is easier to play on than a Yamaha 4C,... -
great sound
This mouthpiece helps my daughter to play much better than the more expensive she had and broke. We were worried that since it didn't cost that much that it wouldn't be any good but we were pleasantly surprised. I would recommend this to anyone and would buy it again should she happend to drop...

I've been playing clarinet for years, and now I'm playing in my university concert band and wind ensemble... technically I'm pretty good, but I have some tone problems. I have a brand new (well, it's a couple years old now, but it was new when I...
Try some, try some more, then keep trying. A music shop should let you have a go on different mouthpieces in the shop, and try different reeds and even different ligatures.
A B45 may be good for some, but it did nothing for me for years. If there was one "best"

Selmer Tunable Clarinet Mouthpiece - Has anyone seen one of these?
I bought an old Conn albert system clarinet the other day that came with the oddest old Selmer mouthpiece. It is marked "H. Selmer A Paris" in an oval on top of the mouthpiece and "A" on the table. It is some sort of tunable mouthpiece. It does not have a cork tenon, but rather a threaded tenon that screws into the barrel of the clarinet allowing for tuning adjustment by lengthening or shortening the section. Of course I've seen similar things before, but they were always adjustable barrels, not mouthpieces. The thing that is confusing the heck out of me is that the barrel sure appears to be original to the clarinet (although it is unmarked), but it has the corresponding threaded sleeve for the mouthpiece to screw into. Could this be a modification to either the original barrel for this clarinet or to the mouthpiece itself? Any thoughts? I'll post some pics later. OK, never mind, I spoke to soon....
