Good introduction to musical instruments

Where/When: Azalea Meadow in Morris Arboretum , 100 E. Northwestern Avenue, on Thursday from 6:30-8:30pm, with children’s craft activity at 5:30pm (make your own musical instrument).
Why Go: Get your blankets and picnic baskets ready for Morris Arboretum’s annual outdoor summer concert series. All concerts take place outdoors in the Morris Arboretum’s beautiful Azalea Meadow. Alex and the Kaleidoscope Band has won 14 national awards for excellence in children’s entertainment including a Parents’ Choice Recommendation and best song for children from the Independent Music Awards.
Pricing: Charges are assessed per vehicle entering the grounds after 4pm. Morris Arboretum member cars are free; nonmember cars will be charged a $30 parking fee in lieu of per person admission fees. Non-member fees for those arriving on foot, on bike, or with SEPTA on concert nights after 4pm: $5.00 per individual, 3 years of age and up. No other coupons or discounts apply. Members who walk, bike or take SEPTA will not be charged a fee.

Great old trumpet made by G. C. Conn LTD. and decorative design inscription includes Elkhart, IN. I know nothing about musical instruments, so please send questions via email and I will ask my musical friend. It has several small dents, #3 valve sticks, but my wife, who hasn't played the trumpet in 40 years, still made some simple scales sound good. The mouthpiece is marked Blessing 13, but I could not get it loose from the horn. I did not attempt to pull too hard nor try any other remedy. The case is included and has a nice medallion in the center of the top. It is a little rough on the inside but still has most of the velvet in place. Winning bidder to pay $14.50 shipping and insurance. Thanks.

Download some good jazz from the internet or put on a good album. Try something new each time. This will make cleaning less of a chore and much more fun. Lets get going.
First dismantle the trumpet completely, laying out the pieces on a clean rag. Place the valves into a cup and half fill with warm soapy water. Leave for a few minutes. Now put some detergent onto the end of your long snake brush and clean out all of the tubes. Also push it through the bell of the trumpet a few times. Pour two litres of warm soapy water into the bell and rinse out with clean water. Now rinse outall the tubes and pipes in warm clean water over a sink. Gently wipe the sides of the valves without scratching the metal.
If the ends of the slides are marked, they may require gentle scrubbing. Once slides are clean and dry, apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly to the areas which slide, and place into position on the trumpet. Oilthe valves with three to four drops each and gently replace. Don’t forget the valve caps.
