Customer Reviews:
  1. great planet book
This series of planet books is great. Very informative but not so detailed as to lose a kid's interest. My son (6 yrs old) is still very engaged with the level of detail and I enjoy learning the facts too.
  2. This book about the stormy planet is colorful, fun and easy to read!
There are eight planets in our solar system and Jupiter is the fifth planet from the sun. It is a beautiful planet to look at and is "covered with orange, brown, and white stripes." These stripes are actually "frozen clouds" and their colors come from different kinds of gas and ice. Unlike...

Not sure what you mean by "representation."
Jupiter is the largest planet in our solar system and has been studied by ground-based telescopes for decades.

Jupiter?????

What is the climate of Jupiter

Hurricane-strength winds, massive storms that seem to last for years, immense pressures near the surface (if there is one). Cold at the tops of the clouds, gradually becoming warmer as you descend.
All in all, not a very nice vacation spot.

Jupiter, The Planet, Satellites and Magnetosphere
Jupiter, The Planet, Satellites and Magnetosphere This comprehensive volume authoritatively describes our understanding of the complex and fascinating jovian system.

This comprehensive volume authoritatively describes our understanding of the complex and fascinating jovian system. Written by a team of world experts, it brings together every aspect of the giant planetary system, from the deep interior of Jupiter to the distant tiny satellites and swarms of escaping gas and dust. Chapters present a synthesis of experimental data from the Voyager, Galileo and Cassini missions, from telescopes on the ground and in space, and from theoretical models on the different components that make up the Jupiter system. This book is a valuable introduction for graduate students and an indispensable resource for all researchers in planetary science.

NASA's solar-powered Juno mission heads to Jupiter today, Orbiter ...

NASA mission Juno was beset by delays for some time now, but the trip to solar power is finally scheduled for launch to Jupiter today, hoping to make history. Throughout his journey of five years, the "tank" spacecraft will be powered exclusively by a trio of solar panels, each measuring nine feet wide and 30 feet long. Close to the Earth, these panels will be able to generate 14 kilowatts of electricity, but as Juno ventures deeper into space, they will only handle 400 watts. The power, however, should not be a problem that NASA has equipped the craft with on-board computers, energy-efficient and established a route that will maximize its exposure to the sun. Juno should reach Jupiter in 2016 and, if all goes as planned, will eventually travel further than any solar device ever made....

On the Radar: Jupiter mission, jobs for vets, Tiger's return ...

Three things you need to know today.

Jupiter mission: NASA plans to launch its Mission Juno satellite on Friday to begin a five-year, 400-million-mile journey to Jupiter that the space agency hopes will help reveal how our solar system was formed.

Liftoff is scheduled for 11:34 a.m. ET.

Mission Juno will offer unprecedented insight into the formation of our solar system by investigating what lies underneath Jupiter's atmosphere, astronomers said at Kennedy Space Center. Jupiter is known for its violent storms and gaseous atmosphere.

Scott Bolton, principal investigator for the mission, said Jupiter - which is 1,300 times larger than Earth - holds a key to understanding the solar system because it's believed to be the first planet to have formed after the sun.

While this is not a manned mission, the satellite will carry a crew of three LEGO figures, 1.5-inch-tall likenesses of Galileo Galilei, the Roman god Jupiter and his wife Juno.
