Marching French Horn Vs Mellophone
VS Mellophones trumpet / french-horn?
I am a sophomore in high school to start band in concert, now that start the season is over. I am thinking of switching to French horn / trumpet mello, I have played trumpet since 7 th grade (4 years) and I have my octaves high and low for some good. but I'm curious what the difference between the horn and Mellophones and how different it is the score? thanks
I'm not a player bronze, although I have been playing the oboe for 4 years (6 º) and also play the clarinet for the march banda (first year). But more likely is that the difference is a mello sound is slightly lower than the trumpet, and trumpet can play more strongly than mello more likely. Mellophones is a clef, but the French horn I think it can be both treble and bass, which is one reason why it is so difficult to play. A compacted Mellophones is a French horn, made for band, I just can only go Mellos clef, but I'm not positive. Hope that helps and good luck learning the French horn....
Marching French Horn Mellophone
I currently play the clarinet, and like it and all, but I don’t really like it like I used to. So I want to switch to the French horn. Im currently a sophomore in high school, and want to start playing the mellophone for marching season and the French horn for concert season. I told my band director that and he said he’d teach me during summer music (summer music lessons) to play the horn. Is the summer ample time to learn the horn? And how different is the mellophone from it. Just seems like a lot to learn in one summer, or maybe im not giving my band director enough credit?
2) If I want to play the horn/mello in college, im assuming I need my own horn (assuming the mello would be provided) and private lessons somewhere in the next 2 years to get me up to par with the kids who’ve played for longer than me?
Depends on how fast you learn and how much work you put into it. Everyone learns at different rates, but the more practice you put into it. I’m a sax player, but I could play some pretty good trombone from just a 2 weeks of playing. That being said, if you practice enough you probably will be good enough to play marching music.
