The school I go to just ordered this bass clarinet. I've only played it once but it played very well. Maybe its just because the bass clarinet that I currently play is old and very temperamental. Its a good student horn but if you want to play past high school or college it would probably be best...

I want to play clarinet duets with my friend. We both have Bb clarinets. He also has a Bass Clarinet. There is lots of good music for Bb clarinet and other instruments. We want to play some of these other pieces.
Bass Clarinet is accent to tuba, try tenor sax or another bass line instrument.

Here is a formula for you. Take all the bari sax notes and take them up a perfect 4th.
for example
Think of the concert Bb note you play in band. When you play C on your bass clarinet, the bari sax is holding a G to make the same sounding pitch.

3]My bass clarinet will not no matter how hard I try, play a B or C on the staff. Ds and Es above that are fine. I’ve had it fixed numerous times. The scales we are playing for attions for honor/selective require playing those at least a few times. What should I do? I’ve already told my BD more than once, but he dosen’t seem to care.
It sounds like you’ve just lost your lip – Bb and bass clarinets require different embouchures and it’ll take time to come back. Practice in short stints – like 10 minutes six times a day – and your lip will come back.
Your band director shouldn’t be dictating mouthpiece selection to you – mouthpieces are a very personal thing and what works for one person doesn’t necessarily work for the next – I play a mouthpiece that a lot of people dislike but it works well for me. If you’re happy with what you have, don’t bother buying a new one!...

I am fortunate that I have a plastic injection molding company so some of my homemade saxes are injection molded, others are 3d printed, or FDM’d. I recently had some silver plated brass Mason Clarisax’s factory made. They are similar to the Conn Clar-O-Sax but have a better tone as I made the wall thickness thicker so the sound is more mellow.
