Like the first book in this series, this one stretches your ability and demands more practice. Use it to get better and stay in touch with the basics. Very useful tool, and a must have for any clarinist.

Alto clarinet is uncommon in school bands (and in most composition) because the range is duplicated in the soprano and bass -- not because it sounds bad.

Pianists Kristian Bezuidenhout and Freddy Kempf offer musical treats
TWO consummate keyboard artists were on my listening menu at the end of last week.
One dwelt in the late 18th-century territory of Mozart, the other in the more flamboyant, even exhibitionist, early 20th-century world of Sergei Rachmaninoff. On Friday, at Angel Place, Kristian Bezuidenhout, a master of the fortepiano (a keyboard instrument which dwells in the terrain between the harpsichord and the piano) played two works with the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra under the guest direction of Marc Destrube.
The program was entitled Mozart Tempest, but only fleetingly lived up to that label.
Symphony No 25 and the overture to an oratorio, La Betulia Liberata, completed when he was just 15, shared the limelight with the Rondo for Piano and Orchestra, K.382, and the 22nd Piano Concerto in which Bezuidenhout displayed exemplary technique and heart though the delicate sounds of his instrument struggled to make themselves heard in competition with even modest and restrained orchestral backing. The brief cadenzas where the fortepiano could be clearly heard were thus the inevitable highlights of this partnership.
