Cuban Musician Manuel Galban Dies

The famous Cuban guitarist and composer, member band Los Zafiros, Buena Vista Social Club and collaborator Grammy Galbán Manuel died in a hospital Havana Thursday, July 7, 2011, after suffering cardiac arrest. Mr. Galbán was 80.

Mr. Galbán was born in the small village of Gibara, Cuba, January 14, 1931. He began his professional music career at the age of 14 years with the Orquesta Blanca Villa. In 1956, the young musician moved to Havana to play in clubs and bars in the capital.

On the recommendation of a fellow musician, he joined the popular group Los Zafiros in 1963.Earn their chops with the legendary Los Zafiros, a mixture of Cuba, bolero, bossa nova, calypso and R & B, Mr. Galbán made a lasting impression on the band's popularity with the development of his drawing style single guitar in the rock People and roll and surf sounds.

Later, he would be joining the Dirección Nacional de Música, Cuba National Music Ensemble, and the Grupo Batey, where he spent the next 23 years playing and touring with the group.

Tiene 10 CDs RE GROSOS: "Concerto for Group and Orchestra," "Deep Purple in Rock," "Fireball," "Machine Head," "Made in Japan," "Who Do We Think We Are," "Burn," "Stormbringer," "Come Taste the Band," y "Made in Europe."

Lo recomiendo 100%, es muy bueno. Trae los .cue + image. Les dejo los tracklists.

"Concerto for Group and Orchestra"

Recorded September 24th 1969 at Royal Albert Hall, London. First issued (gatefolded) in December 1969 in U.S.A. on Tetragrammaton Records T 131. (This edition was short lived as the company went bust in early 1970). The distribution in U.S.A. was then managed by Warner Bros. WS 1860. First UK edition on Harvest SHVL 767 in January 1970 (Two versions are in circulation: V1 laminated only outside and printed by E.J.Day – V2 laminated inside as well and printed by Gerrard & Lofthouse). Four different vinyl versions in Japan chronological (all Warner Bros.): BP 8962 (June 1970), P 8093W, P 6504W, P10331W (1976).
