Things aren't as strange as they used to be, although it has been "a long, strange trip." Through thick and thin, the band known as Furthur, slated to appear at the Monterey County Fairgrounds Friday and Saturday, has maintained a special place in the hearts of music fans worldwide.
If not because of the respect the Grateful Dead-equated group has earned for its place in history, then it's because of the special relationship the band shares with its audience.
Practitioners of improvisational journeys once visited mainly by jazz musicians, the band also has its roots in the country and bluegrass fields, not to mention blues, rock and pop.
So it can be said, Furthur delivers to a wide range of musical connoisseurs.
