  1. Mandatory Read
Take this to heart. I have been playing for 16 years this Christmas. For the first seven years I experimented with different brands and gauges. These were the strings I settled on after all that experimentation and I have never looked back. Slinky 9's are ALL I have bought for the past nine...
  2. Simple and Effective
I've been playing the guitar for 20 years, and I've tried a lot of different strings. Across all of the different options that are available, I'm convinced that there are really two variables that control 95% of the sound: 1) String gauge. Suck it up and buy the 11's. You will *not* get the...

Can I use electric guitar strings on my acoustic guitar?

i have an extra electric guitar strings...and my acoustic needs new strings..is it ok to put the electric strings on my acoustic?

It is alright to put electric strings on an acoustic, but your tone will suffer. Electric strings on an acoustic will give you a very small, twangy, ultra-hi trebel sound...terrible. I recommend finding a local music shop and buying a $5-6 pack of acoustic strings instead.

How hard do you need to press on the strings of an electric guitar?

You only need to press hard enough to get a clean sound from the string. It's typically easier on an electric guitar because the strings are closer to the fretboard (lower action) and the strings are usually lighter weight on electric guitars. Still, a good quality acoustic

Violinist teaches local students to “electrify their strings”

Visitors walking by Hough High School’s auditorium the evening of Tuesday, Oct. 25, might have thought they were hearing things as an orchestra of local high school and middle school musicians rehearsed for a concert later that night.

Instead of playing the classical staples of Bach, Beethoven and Mozart, students were running through an all-strings rendition of Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven.”

“When you go to college, I want you to be jamming out with guitar players, bass players and drummers,” the orchestra’s director, Mark Wood, told his musicians. “I don’t want you to put your instrument away once you leave high school.”

The two-day workshop and Tuesday night concert were all a part of Wood’s “Electrify Your Strings” music education program, which gives traditional school and university orchestras a “rock makeover.” The program marks the first time that many young musicians become introduced to the electric violin, and there’s probably no better man than the man PBS dubbed the “Les Paul of the Violin World” to do the job. The Juilliard-trained violinist is a founding member of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, most famous for its Christmas-themed rock operas, and has been successfully running the “Electrify Your Strings” program for the past decade.

Picking Guitar Strings - Electric Ronald

There are many guitar strummers who immediately start changing guitar strings and begin experimentation in order to enhance the sound. But the golden rule is to keep strumming the guitar for around 8 days to 14 days and then decide what kind of strings you would actually like to go with different styles of music.

Optimum time must be given to the woods to let them emanate the best sounds. For that, you have to play for long stretches of time daily to make the top vibrate beautifully. This will also give the guitar and its strings the chance to settle in well.

Some of the more renowned brands which manufacture guitar string of different types are Ernie Ball, Martin, Everly and Diadario.

Steel string - electric guitar

Electric guitar strings are usually made of steel core while the winding is made of nickel or copper or bronze. If you are in favor of expensive electric guitar strings, then you can choose the ones with protective metal or polymer coating that prevents corrosion....
