This guitar is perfect!
My 6 yr old rcvd this as a b-day gift and loves it! We are so happy with the size and quality and accessories included! He may or may not take lessons but this is a fun instrument that will last for years of play either way!

I had a similar problem but in the reverse order. When I connected my laptop to my audio system I got an electric hum in the background. It was really annoying. I solved the problem by buying a ground loop isolator and plugging it in between my laptop and my sound system.

You're probably getting feedback. All guitars have it, feedback depends on your amp settings and if the strings are vibrating or not. If you really to avoid it try palm muting the strings when your not playing or mess around with your amp .

If it’s true that there are scant new roads to travel in the worn-out realm of guitar rock (and it’s true), that doesn’t mean there aren’t still fascinating vistas out there to discover. All you have to do is spin around a few times ’til you’re dizzy, wander a few steps off the highway and then take it all in.
The War on Drugs does this, figuratively speaking. The Philadelphia band, which released its buzzing, acclaimed first album, “Wagonwheel Blues,” in 2008 and whose accomplished second, “Slave Ambient” (after a couple of EPs), came out in August, didn’t cause a revolution at the Satellite in Silver Lake on Saturday night, didn’t transform rock and/or roll with innovation, didn’t rewrite any rules. But by deftly, smartly combining bits and pieces of the past four decades of electric guitar music and mixing it with a sturdy, rolling thunder rhythm that pushed songs forward with ridiculous amounts of momentum, the War on Drugs created a magical wormhole out of electricity, muscle and faded blue jeans.

Electric Guitar – Want To Avoid Guitar Hum and A/C Power Noise ...
Any time you hook up a multitude of complex electrical components with lots of cables, the rig or setup is probably going to have some annoying electrical noise. It’s a problem electric guitar players have faced forever with varied success.
One of the prime reasons for hum is the ground loop, caused when the sound system has two or more different ground points. This is easy to do if, for example, you plug your guitarist’s amp into the onstage socket, and your mixer into the socket at the back of the house. These separate points will have different electrical potentials, causing electrical current to flow. The result is easy to hear, but how do you fix the problem?
The best solution is to ensure that all AC power is supplied from one single circuit from the power mains. If that’s not enough juice, at least make sure that all your circuits come from the same panel with the same ground.
The ground loop can also be broken by the use of a ground lift adapter, but it’s not a very good idea, as this method is potentially fatal. Breaking the ground means that the signal could potentially find its way to earth directly through you!
