Brazilian rosewood is protected by international treaty due to deforestation of the Amazon basin. You can't import it legally into the US or any other nation for that matter unless it has the proper paperwork that says it was cut before a particular date. You can own an instrument made with it. It is just illegal to sell that instrument internationally without proper paperwork.
It's treated like ivory is on pianos. Some makers may have legal stocks of Brazilian rosewood. Just make sure you get a copy of the paperwork if you buy one if you are going to be travelling internationally or selling internationally.

Welcome bidders, you are looking at a great piece. This is the 90′s Peavey USA Forum 4 String Bass Guitar. 34″ scale. 1 11/16″ nut width. Serial #: 08202310. 9.8 lbs. Peavey has been making some incredible guitars and basses for decades- of course the cream of the crop is made in the USA. This Forum was built in the USA in the mid to late 90′s. The poplar body/maple neck combination enables incredible low end while retaining clarity. The active humbucker in the bridge position runs into the 2 band active EQ. With controls for bass & treble, this allows you to dial in all the thump you want but with a couple of knob turns, you have a great slap/pop tone…even silky jazz warmth can be dialed right in. Extremely versatile. I should also mention that this is one of the thinnest bass necks I have ever felt.
