Who's pickin the banjer?
This is a great song. It evokes memories of that classic movie where four men embark on a journey down a mountain river only to be accosted and later hunted by sodomizing moonshiners. Every country boy's nightmare. A great bluegrass song! Deliverance!

The film is very disturbing issue for me, however, I was always intrigued by the scene where the banjo duel takes place. Is this the young man sitting on the swing really play, or is it Earl Scruggs? So who is this guy, about the mountains?
The best scene in one of the greatest movies of all time.
The band clowns around a bit with "Dueling Banjos" - 'til Robert runs away with it!
I just heard the song Dueling Banjos performed by the Raleigh Ringers on handbells, and my handbell choir would like to know where we could find the sheet music for this (or any other song performed by the Raleigh Ringers, like We Will Rock You,...
I have no idea where you would find that, but I would definitely like to hear it!
Actually, I lied. I have three ideas.
1. Go to your local music store, (if you have several, visit all of them. At least one might be able to help you) and ask customer service

Ronny Cox Talks Film, Family and Folk Tunes
.
In recent years, Cox, who celebrated his 73rd July 23, turned his attention to his music career and released several albums. His stage shows perfect blend of folk melodies and personal stories, and Cox said he was happy to share with his last hearing in Skokie.
He spoke with the patch on his favorite movie role, her work as an "artist of interpretation" and his belief in the life-changing power of music.
Skokie Patch: Why the narrative becomes part of your work on stage?
Ronny Cox: I've always been a storyteller. I recently finished a book on the making of Deliverance, and it is in the form of stories. There are thousands of stories about Deliverance is, most of them false. I'm not looking for literary quality as much as I merit narration.
There are certain phrases that I use that are not grammatically correct, but they add much to the story. There are two schools of thought on folk music. Some people think you should just sing the song and shut up and let the song speak for itself. This point of view very valid, but it just does not work for me.
Dueling Banjo's/Dueling Fiddle's? - Discussion Forums - Fiddle Hangout
You do not usually see Dueling Banjo played the banjo and violin, but is it a part of the violin that I can achieve this? My brother is going to learn it on his banjo, and it would be a really fun song for us to do together (at least the part intro)! I also read an old post that someone found a song called Dueling Fiddles, is the violin part for Dueling Banjos or a completely different song?
Thank you!
Mando tab? Did you mean banjo tab?I will use the banjo tab if there is no version written for violin already there, thought I would see first. There are some good versions of Dueling Banjos with violins on YouTube, maybe I'll find him listening to them. I heard the song called Mocking the banjo before ...
If anyone has a version for violin already put together, please share!...
Dueling Banjos Hoax
The claims in the message are untrue. The scene was not spontaneous but very much a planned and scripted part of the movie. The music was composed in 1955 by Arthur "Guitar Boogie" Smith. The part of the banjo playing boy in "Deliverance"was played by Billy Redden. Redden could not actually play the banjo. Film director John Boorman hid another, more skilled youngster behind Redden and had him fret the notes with his left hand. Musicians Eric Weissberg and Steve Mandell arranged and performed "Dueling Banjos" on the film soundtrack. This is how this remarkable scene, that was included in the movie, was developed and filmed. Look at the expression of the boy. At first, he seems uncertain and waiting but as the intensity of the music progressed, his lost expression was gone and an expression of pleasure and happiness was recovered; thanks to this guitar player who happened to pass by. According to this message, which circulates via email...
